TIPS FOR FLYING TO AUSTRALIA
Get in the zone, change you watch to your destination’s time early on in the flight.
Wear loose, layered clothing and comfortable shoes.
Take off your make up and use a moisturiser (tip from a beauty therapist friend).
Drink plenty of water.
Do those leg exercises.
Ask for a pillow and a blanket early on in the flight. They sometimes run out.
The usual, books and ipods work, along with in flight entertainment.
Parents bring something for every eventuality, toys, snacks, books, pencils, wipes, and liquid paracetamol.
Some airlines provide toothbrushes and toothpaste or bring your own.
Enjoy the steaming towels the attendants bring through the cabin.
Consider using ear phones and an eye mask, even if you do look ridiculous.
Shower and change into fresh clothes at your stop over destination. The showers in Singapore are great!
Don’t bring food of any description into Australia, you will be stopped at customs and could be fined. Some packed foods are permitted but you don’t need the hassle of clearing customs after a long haul flight. They actually have fruit sniffer dogs at the airports!
Make sure your kid’s football boots are mud free or they won’t be allowed in. Seriously they xrayed our cases and quizzed us on how they were cleaned.
Aim to stay up until its late evening once you have arrived to try establish your new sleeping pattern.
Enjoy the adventure.
