DRIVING LICENCES
Each state has it’s own requirements for changing driving licences. If your driving licence is not in English it must be translated. In general full UK licence holders is that they have to take a sight test, but do not have to take a practical or theory test. Most states require you to change your licence within three months of arrival.

BUYING A CAR
It is possible to buy a car from new and used dealerships, private individulas and by auction or online.
- Shop around as it is possible to save quite a bit of money by doing this.
- Negotiation on the price is perfectly acceptable and the dealer may be more than happy to offer a discount on the advertised price.
- It is possible to have the vehicle inspected by the RAC before you buy it.
- Check the conditions of the warranty.
- When buying a car at auction or from a private individual you should check Register of Encumbered Vehicles to make sure that the seller has the right to sell the car. www.revs.nsw.gov.au Purchase the REVS certificate which gives you conditional legal protection from repossession.
